Complete Lipids for Glowing Skin

A complete, balanced and non-greasy vital lipid serum to enhance the performance of water based actives to lock moisture in the skin.  An effective blend of botanical oils, ceramides and cholesterol to mimic the composition of your natural lipid barrier to protect the skin from moisture loss, reduce inflammation and diminish the signs of aging.

The composition of the Lipid Matrix

This lipid matrix protects your natural moisturizing factor from evaporating out of the skin by creating a barrier and trapping moisture. The natural lipid matrix is a blend of ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids.  Ceramides are known to play a key role in regulating hydration.  All three lipid matrix components work together in a balanced ratio to be effective at their job.  By using one or two of the components to the exclusion of the others will upset that natural balance and negatively affect the skin barrier function.

Applying the Complete Lipid serum daily helps to replenish the skin of these vital elements to hydrate and protect the skin.

Lipid Matrix Supporting Active Ingredients

Ceramides:  Ceramides help the skin retain moisture, reduce sensitivity and maintain the protective barrier function to smooth, plump and firm the appearance of the skin. Ceramides are a naturally occurring waxy lipid found in the outermost layers of skin forming the skin’s barrier defense (lipid bilayer). If you think of cells like bricks, ceramides are like the mortar holding the bricks together, creating a protective layer from external environmental stressors and preventing moisture loss. The ceramide content of the skin reduces with age and sun photodamage, so it’s beneficial to replace them and produce more.

Cholesterol:  A mixture of cholesterol derivatives that will replenish membrane lipids and strengthen the barrier function of the skin.

Jojoba Seed Oil:  Although called an oil, it is actually a polyunsaturated liquid plant wax ester. Jojoba is an emollient, biomimetic substance that closely resembles human sebum (our natural oil). Jojoba Oil is skin-restoring and oil-balancing, so it’s beneficial if you produce too much or too little oil. Jojoba Seed Oil deeply penetrates, creates a protective barrier, and reduces trans-epidermal water loss.

Squalane:  A nature mimetic version of our naturally produced squalene - a component of our sebum responsible for our protective lipid matrix that our skin recognizes and responds to.  It is a lightweight oil with to prevent moisture loss, protect against lipid peroxidation and neutralize UV damage.

Borage Seed Oil:  contains 20-24% gamma linolenic acid (GLA), an important essential fatty acid and potent anti-inflammatory. Our ability to synthesize GLA from food becomes impaired with age, leading to rough-textured, dehydrated skin and the appearance of wrinkles. GLA is also helpful to balance the androgen hormones associated with acne.

Flax Seed Oil:  Flax oil has the highest concentration of omega-3 essential fatty acids among plant oils.  A nourishing, hydrating and inflammation fighting oil to plump, firm and tighten the skin.  This lightweight oil contains Alpha Linolenic Acid, a plant based source of omega-3, that the body converts to DPA and DHA

Green Tea Seed OIl:  Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis) is a powerful antioxidant, as well as a multifunctional natural defender, containing tea polyphenols, that protects against DNA damage caused by UV radiation and free radicals from the environment. Green Tea supports collagen levels and is a potent anti-inflammatory reducing irritation, redness, and sensitivity. It is also anti-bacterial and helpful in balancing androgen hormones associated with acne.

Hemp Seed OIl:  A multitasking oil serving to reduce inflammation, regulate sebum production and hydrate the skin.  The rejuvenating abilities of this oil include skin regeneration, firming and brightening. Hemp Seed Oil is soothing for eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and rosacea.

Pomegranate Seed Oil:  Contains punicic acid (Omega-5), an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that promotes collagen synthesis and prevents tissue damage. Pomegranate Seed Oil supports the keratinocyte (skin cell) to help thicken the skin to prevent and repair sun damage.

Rosehip Seed Oil:  The bioactive component of Rosehip Oil is all-trans retinoic acid, a natural precursor to vitamin A. It contains high levels of the essential skin trio for regeneration: vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. Rosehip Oil balances acne-producing hormones, helps to reduce skin sensitivity and redness, improves the appearance of scars and stretch marks, and protects and repairs photo damage to reduce hyperpigmentation.

Don't forget to pat a few drops of Complete Lipids Serum on each day to help maintain your natural barrier function.
