HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE THE SKINVACIOUS PERSONAL ROLLER?
The Personal Skin Roller is designed to be gentle enough for daily use. Rolling of the skin stimulates microcirculation to increase natural growth factors, improve cellular communication, and enhance the effects of topical nutrients. Take your time building up the number of days you use the Skin Roller. Results are cumulative, but you will notice a difference in your skin in as little as a few days.
HOW LONG WITH MY SKINVACIOUS PERSONAL SKIN ROLLER LAST?
The skinVacious Personal Skin Roller will last 3-6 months depending on: how often it is used; the size and areas of the body that are rolled; the number of passes the roller has made; and how the roller is cared for. The microtips will dull over time, similar to a razor. You will not achieve the maximum benefit if using a dull roller. If you drop or bang your skinVacious Skin Roller you should throw it out, as the microtips have more than likely suffered damage.
WHEN WILL I NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN MY SKIN?
The results are noticeable immediately. The skin will appear vibrant as the microcirculation increases. The effects of this technique are cumulative, which means that you will continue to see improvement over time. It’s like a workout routine for your skin!
DOES IT HURT? WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
Each person is individual in how they perceive skin rolling treatments. The Personal Skin Roller does not hurt, but you will feel a stimulating sensation similar to using a topical exfoliating scrub. The first few times are usually when the sensation is most noticeable, which is why we recommend starting use at only a couple of times per week, with only a few passes in each direction, until the skin becomes used to the rolling. The sensation diminishes with use as the skin becomes healthier. Always work within your comfort zone, working your way up to longer lengths and intervals.
DO I NEED TO USE A TOPICAL NUMBING CREAM?
No. A Personal Skin Roller on face and body is mild and well-tolerated. It does not require a numbing cream.
CAN I USE A SKIN ROLLER IF I'VE HAD BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX) OR DERMAL FILLERS?
We recommend not performing a skin rolling treatment for up to 2 weeks following injections of botulinum toxin or dermal fillers. All inflammation from these treatments must be resolved before using a skin roller.
WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF HEALTHY SKIN?
- Soft and smooth surface
- Even skin tone and colour
- Strong cellular function
- Abundant collagen and elastin fibres
- Optimum epidermal and dermal hydration
- Good lipid barrier function
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO USE THE SKINVACIOUS PERSONAL SKIN ROLLER?
We recommend using the roller in the evening, as the rolling increases circulation and the skin can become flushed. Night is also when repair and rejuvenation take place – an ideal time to increase circulation and enhance nutrient-intake. You will then wake up with healthier-looking skin!
HOW LONG SHOULD I ROLL?
We recommend 6-10 passes vertically and 6-10 passes horizontally for the entire surface of the area of focus. Remember to work in small sections and work your way around the contours of the areas being rolled.
HOW MUCH PRESSURE SHOULD I USE WHEN ROLLING?
There is no need to use additional pressure when rolling. Very slightly stretch the skin smooth so the roller has flat contact with it, then apply gentle but even pressure. The microtips are sharp and will do the work for you.
DO I HAVE TO USE A SKINCARE PRODUCT AFTER I ROLL?
In order to achieve the full benefit of skin rolling, two key things are required: first, the stimulation of the skin; second, the nourishing properties of the skincare. The mechanical action of rolling causes some moisture to evaporate from the skin. This is counteracted by the application and hydrating qualities of our nutrient-rich skincare.
WHAT SKINCARE SHOULD I USE?
We recommend using skinVacious’ skincare post-treatment, as it is specially formulated with nutrients that feed cells and restore lipids, to re-establish your skin’s barrier function and prevent moisture loss.
WHAT ARE THE STEPS IN THE SKINVACIOUS SKINCARE SYSTEM?
- Clean your skin with a gentle cleanser and pat dry
- Roll with your skinVacious Personal Skin Roller
- Apply skinVacious skin rolling aftercare
- Sanitize your roller
WHAT AREAS OF THE BODY CAN I USE THE SKINVACIOUS PERSONAL SKIN ROLLER?
The skinVacious Personal Skin Roller can be used on the face, body and scalp. Specific areas to AVOID are the eyelids, lips, genitalia, and nipples.
CAN I ROLL DIRECTLY UNDER THE EYE?
Yes, and it is very effective. Just proceed slowly and carefully working from the inside corner to the outside rolling in one direction.
MY SKIN SEEMS DRY AFTER ROLLING. WHAT CAN I DO?
This is natural and will diminish as the skin becomes healthier. Apply skinVacious skincare as often as needed. A gentle weekly or bi-monthly exfoliation will also assist in removing build up on the skin’s surface.
WHEN CAN I APPLY MAKEUP?
With an at-home personal use roller, we recommend a minimum of 2 hours before applying any makeup. Optimal practice is performing skin rolling at night and applying makeup* to clean skin the following morning.
*Ideally mineral makeup
DOES ROLLING HELP WITH SUN DAMAGE OR UNEVEN PIGMENT?
The stimulation of the natural cellular function and application of topical nutrients is very effective when treating sun damage and uneven pigment.
DOES ROLLING HELP WITH BROKEN CAPILLARIES, SENSITIVE SKIN & ROSACEA?
Skin rolling stimulates the natural cellular function, complemented by the application of topical nutrients with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory actives that reduce the appearance of rosacea and broken capillaries, as well as diffuse redness associated with sensitive skin.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY ROLLER?
Place a cotton pad in the bottom of a small cup, filled with 70% alcohol, so that the microtips are completely submerged. The cotton pad is there to cushion and protect the microtips from damage by touching the glass directly. Let skinVacious Skin Roller soak for 20 minutes. Remove from alcohol, rinse with hot water, place in the case to dry. Once completely dry, cover with the lid and store until the next treatment.
ARE MORE MICROTIPS ON A ROLLER BETTER?
No, and in many instances more microtips on a roller render it less effective. There needs to be enough space between the microtips to properly reach to their full depth. The ideal number of microtips is 175-220, which adequately covers the area while also allowing enough space in between. Less is so much more in this case!
CAN I SHARE MY ROLLER WITH SOMEONE?
No. The roller is for individual, personal use only.
DO I NEED TO BE CAREFUL IN THE SUN AFTER ROLLING?
Yes, the skin always needs to be protected from UV rays while in the sun. It’s best to use a broad spectrum SPF of 30 or more.
CAN I USE THE PERSONAL SKIN ROLLER WHEN BREASTFEEDING OR PREGNANT?
As the body’s resources are required for pre- and postnatal functions, we recommend not skin rolling while pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s advised not to start rolling again until after giving birth, or once finished breastfeeding.
